Hello :) Need help buying a laptop for deep learning. Should I buy from Cyprus with an extra cost of €500-1000 with guarantee or order from somewhere online cheaper but not having guarantee? Any suggestions for where to buy online? For my specifications (see below) there only 2 laptops available in Cyprus at Stephanis, HP OMEN 17 and ASUS Rog Strix Scar 17 (2023) G733. Both of which can be found for at least €500 cheaper in the official manufacturer website but they do not deliver in Cyprus. Specifications Budget €2000-€3700, Windows 11, 17-18inches, CPU i9 or ryzen 9, RAM 32GB, GPU 4080 12GB, STORAGE 1TB.

If you want to do data science I would suggest you to use Amazon or GCP instances with GPU and just buy yourself a gaming laptop

Hello Laptop gpus are generally worse then same desktop models. 4080 on laptop will perform as desktop 4070 in games and I expect it to perform even worse in ml tasks. If cloud solutions don't work for you and you can't leave device plugged in somewhere to use remotely, maybe consider building some kind of compact PC and use it in pair with regular laptop.

Thanks for your advice it aligns with a lot of feedback I received, which made me change my mind, I will go with Mac and use cloud services for GPUs.
