Heritage пишет: January 2024 Return to School: Precautionary Measures Dear Parents/Guardians, Wishing you all a Happy New Year, with health and success. We have received a directive from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth to share a circular that has been issued by the Ministry of Health regarding recommendations of preventative measures for the return to school on Monday 8 January 2024. The circular (in Greek) is attached and below we provide a translation for you in English: Re: Recommendations for the protection against COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses upon return to school after the Christmas holidays. Due to the increased spread of SARS-CoV-2 and RSV viruses in the population, both in the Republic of Cyprus and worldwide, and in view of the return of students to school after the Christmas holidays, the Ministry of Health has issued the following recommendations for the protection of students and staff. Protective measures: * Hands should be washed regularly and thoroughly with soap and water or an antiseptic solution. * If you have not washed your hands, avoid touching your face and specifically the eyes, nose and mouth (through which viruses enter the body). * Use a protective face mask when in closed spaces (classrooms, corridors, stairs, school buses etc.). * If you have symptoms of a respiratory infection, you must self-isolate and stay at home for at least 24 hours after they subside, even if you test negative for COVID-19, as other viral infections are also on the rise. * If you have symptoms of a respiratory infection (coughing, sneezing), cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow. After coughing or sneezing, you should also sanitise your hands with soap and water or use an antiseptic solution. * Regular and good ventilation of classrooms and other closed areas of the school are required. * Regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces within the classroom as well as objects that may have been contaminated by germs is necessary. * If you feel any symptoms of illness, avoid contact with other people and consult a doctor/paediatrician. * As a preventative measure, it is recommended to carry out tests for COVID-19 at a pharmacy, chemist, laboratory, or with a self-test before returning to school, especially for those who have symptoms of a runny nose, cough, fever, or weakness. * If you test positive for COVID-19, you must self-isolate from other people for at least 5 days. Ministry of Health 5 January 2024 All teaching and non-teaching staff have been informed and will be adhering to all requirements. We urge parents/guardians and students to also take the necessary recommended measures in our combined efforts to ensure that everyone remains safe and healthy. Kind regards, Administration
