Dear Madam
Thank you for the notification. It seems that your case it is going to be re entry to EU because your pet has EU status (valid EU pet passport with valid rabies vaccine that took place on time in EU territory).
On arrival:
In order to save yourself some time, we advise you after the passport control to go straight to Customs Officers (towards exit, RED CUSTOM GATE “Goods Declare”) and inform them that you arrived at the airport with your pets (DECLARE THE PETS), before taking your luggage. The Customs Officers will call a Veterinary Officer to come and inspect your pet animal (depending on workload and due to expansion works taking place at Larnaca Airport, waiting time approximately 45 minutes).
Since the Official vet will be informed about your case, he/she will decide if he is coming at the airport.
it is up to the veterinary officer to decide whether to hold an in-person meeting to scan your pet’s microchip (faster vet control). I would also like to note that if there is a heavy workload, then, with all the necessary information available, there is a strong possibility that the customs officer may release your pet after a phone consultation with the veterinary officer.
So, please sent in advance the following:
your passport number (owners’ passport),
contact phone number
full address in Cyprus
Pages 4, 5, 6 out of 28 of the EU pet passport
If the OV decides to come at the airport…
The verification that the provisions are fulfilled (comply with EU Regulation), will be done by the Veterinary Officer on duty:
1. inspecting the ORIGINAL documents (document check)
2. Scan the microchip of the pet (identity check)
3. See the pet for any strange symptoms (Physical check)
And then be released
Best regards,
Dimitris Karittevlis
Veterinary Officer
