Since your car is from Romania (an EU member state), you can temporarily use it in Cyprus for up to 6 months within a 12-month period without registering it. However, you must follow these important requirements:
Immediate Steps Required
You must declare the vehicle in the Cypriot Electronic Customs Import System by submitting a CMA declaration upon arrival. You’ll need:
• The original EU registration certificate
• Valid vehicle insurance from a Cypriot insurance company
• A valid driving license
Time Limitations
After the 6-month period, you must either:
• Register the vehicle in Cyprus
• Export it from Cyprus
• Store it with Customs
• Destroy it under Customs supervision
Important Warnings
The police are actively enforcing these regulations, and you may face:
• A €100 fine if caught driving without showing intent to register
